Here is a simplified way to understand the different Tier levels, how you earn base points and tier credits, how they figure FREEPLAY(R) and Express Comps. I will continuously be update this page based on what I learn.
- Update: Platinum in a Day is no longer an official option as of January 1, 2013, but Earning 2500 Tier points in a single day and earning the new bonus Tier Points will get you full Platinum status. Also, the new Tier Credit requirement for Platinum status is 5000 Tier Credits in a calendar year.
- SLOTS AND VIDEO POKER (10 Tier Credits for every base point earned) TABLE GAMES (Tier Credits based on length of play and average bet) Hotel Stays, retail purchases, entertainment and hospitality spend: Earn 25 Tier Credits for every $1 spent in LV and 8 everywhere else.
Mlife Poker Tier Credits Card
Here is the link to the Mlife page that describes the tier benefits. Each step of the way from Sapphire to Noir you gain incremental benefits.
Sapphire = Zero tier points to 24,999 tier points
- Pearl = 25,000 tier points to 74,999 tier points
- Gold = 75,000 tier points to 199,999 tier points
- Platinum = 200,000 tier points to unknown
- Noir = Unknown
So, on January 1, your tier credits for both Mlife Rewards and Caesars will be reset to 0. Tier credits for casino programs are earned on a cycle, and the level you earn determines your tier for the following year; if you reach a new tier, you also get to have it for the remainder of that tier year.
Here is the link to the Mlife page that describes how you earn base points and rewards.
How to earn base points:
- For every $3.00 of coin in the Slot machine you will receive 1 base point.
- For every $10.00 of coin in a Video Poker machine you will receive 1 base point.
- Video Craps machines do not allow any coin in play to generate base points(there is usually small print describing this where you put your player cards in). Video Craps is a fun and great game it just doesn't earn you base points.
Figuring out your Tier credits:
- You earn 10 Tier credits for every base point earned at M life destinations in Las Vegas.
- You earn 2 Tier credits for every base point earned at Beav Rivage or Gold Strike Tunica.
- You earn 1 Tier credits for every base point earned at MGM Grand Detroit.
Figuring out your FREEPLAY(R)credits(dollars):
- You earn $0.01 in FREEPLAY(R) for each base point earned.
Figuring out your Express Comp earnings:
- You earn $0.01 in Express Comps for each base point earned
You can earn accelerated base points(bonus points) based on the Tier level you obtain.
- Sapphire Tier Multiplier Bonus = 0% base point multiplier
- Pearl Tier Multiplier Bonus = 10% base point multiplier
- Gold Tier Multiplier Bonus = 20% base point multiplier
- Platinum Tier Multiplier Bonus = 30% base point multiplier
- Noir Tier Multiplier Bonus = 40% base point multiplier

Is the Mlife credit card worth it?
The M Life Rewards MasterCard is a decent option for MGM M life fans if they're looking for a fee free credit card with a few perks for casino visits. Free parking is probably the most valuable perk of this no annual fee card and access to priority check in at Mlife Resorts is a close second. Anyone who has waited on a long line at Borgata, Bellagio and Aria knows how much time can be saved with this value added perk. Automatic Pearl status and bonus earning categories that can help you reach higher status levels can be helpful in certain circumstances.
World of Hyatt offers elite members a variety of benefits for stays at participating MGM resorts as well as well as matched status into Mlife Tiers— but their co-branded credit card issued by Chase has an annual fee and may be unavailable to anyone who is over 5/24 so it may be a less attractive option for anyone who's just looking for free parking.
Final Thoughts
Overall, no one is going to be blown away by this card but the benefits are generous as compared to other no fee cards and it's always nice to have elite status without putting in any effort.
